Parent Education Series: Raising Athletes
Description
Join us for an engaging and practical discussion with Miller parent Katie Steele, Co-Founder of Thrive Mental Health, author, and former Division I athlete. Katie will be presenting on “Regulating the Competitive Spirit”—a talk designed to help parents better understand how their own emotional regulation and behavior can directly shape their athlete’s mindset, confidence, and performance.
Through honest reflection and actionable strategies, Katie will share how parents can:
- Recognize how adult regulation impacts athlete performance and mindset
- Spot common patterns of over-involvement and under-support
- Model emotional regulation and resilience
- Strengthen communication that builds confidence and independence
- Align your role with your child’s developmental and athletic goals
